Civilization V is for anyone who likes the slow burn of building an empire from a single settler. I play this when I want to think a few moves ahead, not just react. The Mac version is a 64-bit port from 2010, so it runs on older Intel Macs — think MacBook Air (M1, 2020) works, but the native architecture is Intel.
Who plays it?
Strategy fans who enjoy managing cities, researching techs, and negotiating with other leaders. It’s single-player or multiplayer, no real-time pressure.
Annex, puppet, raze, or liberate
You get four choices: annex it, turn it into a puppet state (puppet cities pay taxes to the capital), raze it, or liberate it. Holy cities and city-state capitals cannot be razed.
How do cities work in combat?
Up to ten air units can be housed in a city at once, alongside a single combat unit, one non-combat unit, and one ship. Cities can also attack enemy units at range. Territory grows through cultural influence, not just conquest.
Multilingual interfaces included
