The Colour Match tool in AI Color Match does the heavy lifting for you. Drop a reference frame, and the plugin analyses the video to adjust saturation, brightness, contrast, light and shadows automatically. It runs locally on the GPU and supports both 16 and 32 bits per channel, so HDR work stays intact.
- Works as a plugin for After Effects (and Premiere Pro according to the developer).
- Uses AI to match colour schemes between different shots — considers light and shadows on different elements.
- Includes controls for saturation, brightness, contrast and other parameters.
- Runs locally on the GPU; no cloud upload needed.
- Supports 16-bit and 32-bit per channel colour depth.
- Interface in English; standard installation procedure.
Whether you are matching a close-up to a wide shot or balancing two cameras, AI Color Match keeps the grade consistent without manual tweaking. A practical tool for editors who want speed without losing control over the final look.
Drop it on a clip and set your reference frame
Open After Effects and locate AI Color Match under the effects panel. Drop it on a clip, then set your reference frame. The plugin matches exposure, contrast and white balance in one pass. Start with default settings — you can adjust saturation and brightness afterwards. For the first few projects, use clips from the same shoot so you can see how the AI handles consistent lighting before mixing different sources.
Export a LUT in .cube format once you find a grade you like. That way you can apply the same look to other clips without re-running the analysis. The export is straightforward and saves time on longer timelines.
Check that your GPU drivers are up to date. Because AI Color Match runs locally on the GPU, outdated drivers can slow down the analysis. The plugin itself doesn't send frames anywhere, so privacy isn't a concern.
Refined AI analysis for high-contrast footage
Version 1.3.1 keeps the same core workflow — reference frame, automatic matching, manual tweaks — but the developer has refined the AI analysis. The matching of light and shadows across elements feels more precise, especially when you have high-contrast footage. The 16/32 bits per channel support remains, so HDR projects still work without banding.
The plugin continues to support both ARM and x86 64-bit architectures. If you are on an Apple Silicon Mac, it runs natively. No Rosetta workarounds needed. The interface stayed in English, and the standard installation procedure didn't change — copy the plugin file to the correct folder and restart After Effects.
Use it in Premiere with the same workflow
If you mainly edit in Premiere, you can use AI Color Match there as well. The workflow is similar: apply the effect, pick a reference frame, let the AI match the grade.
Will it slow down my Mac?
Because the analysis runs on the GPU, performance depends on your graphics hardware. The plugin doesn't use the CPU for heavy computation, so your system stays responsive for other tasks. On Apple Silicon Macs with integrated or dedicated GPUs, the matching completes in a reasonable time.
Can I use it for colour grading entire sequences?
Yes. Match one clip, export the .cube LUT, then apply that LUT to the rest of the sequence. This keeps the grade consistent across cuts without analysing each clip individually.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. AI Color Match runs entirely on your machine. No frames leave your computer, and no cloud service is involved.
- macOS version not specified by the developer.
- Intel or Apple Silicon (both architectures supported).
- GPU for local processing.
- Host: After Effects (Premiere Pro also listed by the developer).
- Supports 16-bit and 32-bit per channel colour depth.
